Oh, wait! There are those rats onboard, some of them cannibalistic. And, as it turns out, they are both four- as well as two-legged.
I like the
way this novel turned out; standing alone as a dystopian adventure. However, readers will
definitely benefit from having read at least Book 2 - Sirocco, Storm over Land and Sea,
whereas Book 1, Khamsin, the Devil Wind of the Nile, is
a stand-alone with only its artifacts as the bridge to the two sequels).
