Celebrating Bath Time - NOT

Now that the days are getting warm, my mum - I just know - is thinking to dunk me in that horrid tub. I just HATE that. I'm a self-respecting tom (okay, some debate that). 
But, truly, I don't need no stinking bath!

So, can you tell me why these two-legged food-dispensers think  this is cause for 

celebrating?

Celebrating "P" for Pasha

This Friday's Celebrating the Small Things is dedicated to my Pasha (not that he is that small any more - neither himself nor in my heart).

Today, he saved me from coming up empty in my A to Z Challenge. It's "P"-Day and I couldn't think of anything nautical. Hence, I made him my anchor. He holds me steady.

Celebrating - Judgment Day

How do I get roped into things? Oh, I know, by saying 'yes.' In a small town like this, it is inevitable that somebody wants you to volunteer for something.

But a "cat lady" being a judge at a dog show? No, it wasn't the Westminster nor anything remotely resembling it. The connection was our little animal shelter that would receive the proceeds (from entry fees, hot dogs...edible ones).

Well, it was fun especially as the categories utterly disregarded breeds and standards. The best thing about this was that several of the entries were rescues.

Okay, okay. I'll vote for you. I guess you can teach an old cat lady new tricks.

Celebrating S O S

Script - Omniscience - Scope

A script, these days, written with an omniscient POV, is no longer fully appreciated, I fear. How, then, can one achieve the broad scope desired in, for instance, a sprawling historical fiction novel?

Take Shogun. While Blackthorne is the main protagonist, the text is so well written that you can practically 'hear' Toranaga scheme. Same in Gone with the Wind. If we only knew what went on in Scarlett's mind (or that frivolous heart of hers), how much we would miss.

Anyway, I usually adopt the omniscient POV- often to the lament of (young and impatient) readers. That's My View, and I am sticking to it. Maybe because it's that I myself usually can't abide reading something written in first person, present tense - unless the story really warrants it and it is well done.
