Punctuality

It is Saturday, and I am celebrating Punctuality for our Friday Blog Hop.

I have never been late for anything. Planes, trains, dates or work. Except once: Working in Vienna (Austria, that is), my roommate and I had been solving the problems of the world the prior evening - with a little too much sweet Red Currant Wine (don't EVER do that!). Instead of phoning in sick (which I was), I frantically hopped onto a streetcar and tore into the office where the receptionist happily told me: "The 'Herr Generaldirector' (CEO) is waiting for you." I am sure the elegant man didn't believe my stuttered excuse that I was at the dentist, and ultimately transferred me to the States (I sometimes wonder if that was his punishment--just joking because I am still here forty years later).

I still live by the clock especially to wake up. My alarm goes off at 5 A.M. That purring in my ear and those cold noses in my face are impossible to ignore.

Pasha and Lilliput waiting for the clock to strike 5 AM.

  1. How funny and cute those kitties are! Boy, at 5 am every morning... I would not be a happy camper or worker! I think many of the world's problems could be solved if we'd all sit around with rounds of our favs working their magic on our minds. :) Writer’s Mark

  2. Can you sprinkle some punctuality on me?? I hate being late! It's rude and just causes so much stress, yet I'm always running late. It drives me crazy. I blame my kids (unfairly). But then there are the times when I am early, when all my preparations work out, and the feeling of euphoria is worth it!

  3. Nancy, I forgot to mention: We both also smoked half a cigar (in 1964 the daring thing to do for two young ladies)--which likely contributed to our queasy stomach the next morning (while the world merrily rolled on).

Meredith, just do not stress about being late; and suddenly, you will find yourself being on time.

I enjoyed both your fun comments...now, let's see what else we can solve.

  4. I am laughing as I sit here, tardily reviewing your enjoyable blog.

At least I did not drink half a bottle of redcurrant wine and smoke a cigar! Aie!

    1. No, don't ever do that! But at twenty. besides thinking myself invincible, I was plain dumb. (BTW, thanks to you, I just fixed my little 'nit': curr a nt wine!)
