Best Ever Cuddler,
Joy-Giver,
Kitten-Sitter,
Big Brother to Lilliput.
Out of the blue, Pasha cried as if in great in distress. I found him lying on the floor spread-eagle, panting frantically, his pupils dilated. When I picked him up he hung in my arms limp. When I put him down gently, he could not stand. I immediately called my vet and tore down the winding hill at top speed.
The vet took one look at him, then at me; she said that I needed to sit down. Pasha had developed a fatal blood clot and was in great pain as his blood was pooling in his hind quarters (Saddle Thrombus).
I sat with him as he went to sleep.
Thank you, sweetest of cats,

I am so sorry - but glad for Pasha that you were right there with him, easing him from a life of pain just as you brought him to his life of happiness with you. Rum free Pasha - and Inge, please be prepared for thunderous purrs when you meet again.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diana, for your kind thoughts. How often do we go through this - and yet, never regret that wonderful companionship. Now, I have to "do as I said" in Pasha's book - to celebrate the wonderful years I had with him despite struggling with his tummy for so long after he was so sick when he came to the shelter. Lilliput wanders around confused. Nobody to sit on her in their brief spat for the pillow in the sunny window.
DeleteJust read your interview on Supawcute, and found your blog. I am so sorry that Angel Pasha has left you...and so dramatically.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Considering I never intended to adopt him, he turned out to be the "best ever" buddy not just for me, my other cats but also the many shelter foster kittens who clawed their way through my house.
