The Rescue of these puppies prompted me to share my poem with you.
My Arkansas
*
Forests clad in emerald shrouds
An endless sky dotted with cotton-candy clouds
A darling house that I just bought
This is the Arkansas I sought.
Lumber trucks clamor for strong nerves
A yelping puppy tossed; not what it deserves.
Trash and litter does abound
This is the Arkansas I found.
Life’s multi-layered quilts are evident
from ev’ry distant corner of this land.
Where people kindly rescue dogs and cats,
And women still wear gorgeous hats.
Where gardens bloom by masters’ grace,
And peace pervades this quiet place.
This, too, I found—and happily I vow,
That is my Arkansas right now.

What a really lovely poem, thank you for sharing that with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks. There is a lot of beautify here; as well as a lot of still heart-breaking attitudes "behind the scenes."
DeleteI thought you had written this! An awesome poem. One of the characters in my WIP is from Arkansas, and I've got some researching to do about it. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are some CUTE creatures there. :) Writer’s Mark
Hi, Nancy.
DeleteAR is really a beautify state; but a little bit of a culture shock if you come from the "big city," or even more so, if you come from Europe...but if you have any questions, fire away...I have been retired here now for ten years (hard to believe).
What a heart-warming and lovely way to start a Sunday morning. You do such good work, Inge - writing, rescuing and being yourself.
