Holiday Gifting (No Pets)

I seem to repeat this every year:

The often chaotic holidays are no time to indulge your kids to get a kitten or a puppy. So, I won't repeat it - but you can read all about the reasons for "why not" in last year's article here:

https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/NewPetforChristmas

Now, here is a great (and long-lasting) alternative: give the gift of Reading (and Learning, opening up some awesome worlds to your kids - and yourselves, for that matter).

How about Pasha's Book. These are fun short stories about my wonderful Rescue Cat (I still miss him so much) - and his mischievous Buddies from the Shelter.

The book is available for Kindle (ON SALE for only 99c) and in Print on Amazon.

Celebrating Oktoberfest

This is part of a "Celebration Blog-Hop"

Today, we are celebrating Oktoberfest in our little town.
Of course, it's nothing like "back home," when the beer flowed, the songs reverberated through the square, and the polizei was busy collecting car keys from people too 'happy' to drive. (It was a small village and everybody knew or was related to each other - it also wasn't far to walk - or toddle - home).

Here, in Arkansas, it's quite different. While there is a valiant
effort with hot dogs and pretzels, there is NO BEER. You see,
I live in one of the dry counties.

Instead, we have a cookie sale that benefits our little
Animal Shelter. Something to celebrate, after all.

And now, I have to go collect some kittens from the shelter
to take to the square where they'll romp in a nice big cage.
Hopefully, there will be somebody to adopt the sweet little critters.
